In a nutshell
Build-Green Consulting provides consultancy services on the bioclimatic, passive and energy-efficient design of buildings, so as to minimise their impact on the natural environment and create a comfortable indoor environment by reducing or eliminating its dependence on mechanical services.
The concept of sustainable development is not new. It dates back to the 1970's, mainly due to the oil crisis and the concerns for environmental pollution.The simple, yet effective, design strategies which were used in the past have now been "dismissed", due to fast advances in new technologies and structures.
Sustainable design goes beyond merely designing and building better than average. Truly sustainable design should have a neutral impact on the environment (not be harmful to the environment). With some additional effort, you can also go beyond neutral and move towards design that is restorative and regenerative.
The approach
An integrated design approach is key to the sustainability achievement of any project. Moreover, the earlier in the design process the opportunities and strategies are defined, the more likely it is for a project to reach its sustainability goals with least cost and time requirements.
BGC's main aims for a green/sustainable design approach are:
